[edit] unnecessary deletions?

I have just reverted the deletions of 'past principals' and most of the 'notable past pupils'. If no one has any objections to keeping the principals article, then I will merge it into the history section, where it belongs. --Carbonrodney

        * please leave notable alumni

[edit] Gang Violence

What on earth is the gang violence section? I was in VCE in 2001, and the 'gang violence' was no different to what goes on at any other school -- certainly not remarkable. The only incidents I can think of were the Ryan Moses incident (which, admittedly, made it to pg2 of the Sun, and pg3 of the Age), and a couple of hyped up 'Asians vs Turks' shovefests on the oval. There were a couple of things before that, but they were largely aberrations, and I don't think it really warrants mentioning. Drug use was certainly not exceptional. 203.49.196.168 01:36, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

I have changed the gang violence section so that it says the school grounds and its surrounds as opposed to just the school grounds - given their size alone it seems unreasonable to suggest that gang violence and drug use was rife within the grounds only.

As to the validity of the claims, I am from the class of 2005 (started in 2000) and the only act of significant violence I can remember is when someone was stabbed in the leg with a pen in a small (10 or so people) brawl about 2003. Around 2004, a "gang" of about 20 students from various nearby high schools came onto the school's oval during lunchtime. It was said that this was revenge for someone who had been whipped with a belt buckle a few nights before. A technology teacher dispelled the group before any violence occured.

In comparison with other Victorian state schools, Uni High has no noteworthy violent history to my knowledge.

Good update with the surrounding area. But when I was there we had someone beated up pretty much every week. We had at least 10 hospitalisations per year in the later years... In any case gang activity in the university high school area is particularly high. Noteworthily high.

Unfortunately, it seems someone has removed the section completely. Could that get restored please? I will try and dig up the newspaper articles mentioned above but I am in no mood for searching through the history.

Theres defitenitly no noteworthy violence nowadays. 218.215.129.75 08:30, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Keep the warcry

Keep the warcry. We needed to learn it on enrolment day, it is the equivalent of a school anthem.

[edit] Notable Alumni

can you please put back the notable alumni?

I was disappointed to see the list of notable alumni deleted. Uni High has many notable alumni---past and present of diverse backgrounds---deserving of recognition and in whom there should be pride.

People keep adding nonsense entries, and it's not worth having to constantly police it to keep the crap out. Ambi 01:38, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

There are some agents that periodically revert to one accepted entry. I think the longest the page has been vandalised in the last month is about a day or something. --Carbonrodney

[edit] Student Group Page

Just thought I'd add a link to our Myspace Group page to give the reader a chance to see what recent and current students of the school are like. And yes, the gang violence part was stupid, who put that in?

[edit] Biology Olympiads

Somebody should mention UHS's achievements at the Biology Olympiads (1 gold, 2 silver) in the past few years. --218.215.131.247 08:50, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Info

In the information about UHS, it says that the North Wing has 4 levels. It only has three, but there are two small rooms that are slightly elevated and are 400 and 401 - apart from those, there are no other rooms above the 300s.

[edit] Acceleration Programme

Is there any more info on the Taskies? The Gifted Children's Task force was set up in 1981. And Ms Miles was brought into the school to work on the curriculum. I think it was one of the first programmes of its kind, and it's certainly the model for others. Does it warrent another paragraph? RoseWill 14:02, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Note

That this school is not vocational music school or whatever.I think that we should put that is not the best music school in the world and Australia.Simply is not MUSIC SCHOOL as it offers lots of different not needed subjects.

[edit] Note 2

Can you please do not delete the criticism section because it is very rellevant,as I read and asked many people about this stuff.

Learn to speak english; then you might be taken seriously. --218.215.130.32 07:11, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Robert Harbour

Robert is known to smoke. He once did it with Ms. Callery. He wants more! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.49.207.120 (talk) 08:27, 20 March 2007 (UTC).
