Talk:Université de Moncton
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
What is the policy, if any, on anglicizing the French names of Francophone institutions? We have I think this should be Université de Moncton and Université du Québec à Montréal, but also Laval University and University of Paris.
It seems somewhat unnatural to me to say something like "University of Quebec at Montreal", but I have some feeling that this article should be called University of Moncton. --Saforrest 22:30, Sep 21, 2004 (UTC)
- As someone who has worked for the said university, it's Université de Moncton and nothing else, in the French and English. The university always prided itself as a French-language institution and has loudly complained when an English translation of its name has appeared in the media. - Bouchecl 05:59, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
