[edit] Rewrite

This article is currently been re-written by Fizan in a more encyclopedic tone to dispatch the misleading information it has. If you are familiar with the subject, please contribute to the draft at User:Fizan/Suvadive rewrite. Thanks. --Oblivious 08:21, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

I've added the Suvadive article that I have been working on for a while now. Its far from complete, as it needs additional information on Economy and any other subject that is relevant. And oh, photos too but make sure that it fits Wikipedia's usage policy. Please contribute to make the article better. --Fizan 05:33, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What the...!?

There's a minor problem floating around, noone seems to be sure what the flag actually looked like. On the Flags of formerly independent states, the flag is this: Image:Suvadivianflag.png, while on this page the image is Image:Suvadives flag large.png. Was there an offical version? 68.39.174.238 00:08, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Last year I saw an article about suvadive, which talked about the two variations of the flag they used. I couldnt locate the url now. anyone? --Oblivious 15:51, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
I haven't heard of about variations of the flag, and I've even searched the net for it. Well, anyway I found a photograph of the old flag here and it seems to be identical to the one we used on the article.--Fizan 03:36, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox

United Suvadives Republic
Flag of the Suvaives
Flag of the United Suvadives Republic[1]
Official language Adduan dialect of Dhivehi (de facto)
Capital Hithadhoo
President Abdullah Afeef Didi
Independence January 3, 1959
Annexation September 23, 1964 by the Republic of Maldives
Transfer of Power September 23, 1964 to the Central Government of Malé, Maldives
Footnotes
  1. ^ The three stars resembles the state's constituent atolls, and the crescent symbolizes the nation's unified Islamic faith.

Well, I propose to use the following Infobox. I am not sure about the annexation date, the official language and the capital, so I'd appreciate somebody checking them up. Think that the flag needs to be a vector too. --Fizan 06:59, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

As per the article, shouldn't annexation date be September 23, 1963 and not 1964? --Oblivious 19:43, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Error in the Map

The Map of Suvadives is wrong, there is a blatant anacronism. The three southern atolls constituting the Suvadive Republic were Huvadu, Fua Mulaku and Addu. There was no division between Northern and Southern Huvadu at that time. The red line should run between Huvadu and Fua Mulaku, if red lines have to be included at all. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.83.32.197 (talk • contribs).

Yes there wasnt any such division back then. Will fix and upload soon. --Oblivious 10:03, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
