UNE (畝) is the musical project of Akira Inada. The music is best described as transcendental metal, with an atmospheric, all-encompassing sound, reminiscent of Sigur Rós, while also being (as it has often been put) "heavier than the devil". However, it is very difficult to describe: as Jonah Matranga wrote, it is "beauty beyond words".

While Inada sings some of songs in English or Japanese, most of the songs are sung in no language, and instead simply use the syllables that work the best musically. Up until Færiyes, all his music was recorded at home, and the albums were primarily self-distributed for free, though the EP "A Cactus Towards the Circle Ring" was released in 2003 by the UK label Nova Bomb Records.

Shortly after the release of 2005's Færiyes, the formation of the full band was announced on January 24, 2006. The announced line-up in addition to Akira Inada on vocals and guitar is Haruhiko Mera on guitar, Hiroyuki Takahashi on bass guitar, and Daisuke Anraku on drums. They plan to begin performing this June.
