Undercover Cops

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Undercover Cops is a beat'em up game by Irem where players solve crimes by beating up thugs. The game was later ported to the Super Famicom by the company Varie. Irem considered releasing this port overseas but it was later cancelled. In the Super Famicom version, a player can choose to have from 1 to 5 lives and 1 to 5 credits. There is also easy, normal, and hard mode. Playing "easy" mode only gets the player to the stage where they have to defeat the leader of the sand creatures. Then the game ends, giving the player a stern message in Japanese, and then asking him in English to try the next level (normal). This is followed by the game over screen, just like if he lost the game.

Enemies in this game range from humanoid, cyborgs, robots, even aliens. Weapons include fire, columns that shrink every time they're used, and fish that can be thrown at enemies. The characters eat mice, frogs, and snails to restore their health (many people in Japanese society eat these food for their nutritious value).
