UMPC stands for Ultra-Mobile PC.
The concept was originally called the Origami Project by Microsoft.

The main concept is a small form factor PC with a 7" or less size screen, Tablet PC functionality (touchscreen) and running full-blown Windows XP Tablet or Windows Vista.
