[edit] Merge with Umbrella Corporation

This discussion regards whether or not the article on the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service should be combined with the article on the Umbrella Corporation. It is divided into two sections. The first (Agree) contains all the arguements in agreement to combine the articles. The second (Disagree) contains all the arguements against combining the articles.

The U.B.C.S is completely different from Umbrella Corp. they are hired hands, they do not directly work for Umbrella, this is why they do not know the full details of Umbrella's plans etc, and as they are just hired people, they can be just thrown into places as pure guinea pigs. Umbrella have their special forces team for dealing with things, Hunk is a part of this team! This same team is seen in Resident Evil the movie.

Absolutely not. The Umbrella Biohazard Coutermeasure Service is a major piece of Resident Evil's plot. Limiting it to a small section of the Umbrella Corporation would be a great loss to Wikipedia's completeness.

NO, we can't merge U.B.C.S. just because it's owned by Umbrella, it plays a signifant role in the storyline and to merge it will undermime it. It is important that they DO work directly for umbrella, but the soldiers are hired into it, they are mercinaries from all over the world. When they join they are working and being ran by Umbrella full time. Not going into details because it would spoil Resident Evil 3's plotline.

No, do not merge the two. It deserves its place in Wikipedia because it plays a significant role in the games. Already explained clearly by my fellow game players above why it shouldn't be combined with Umbrella itself.

I totally disagree with the idea. This will piss off the people in power, they will fight their way here, and they will doom you to be their test field :P

[edit] Matt Neuteboom

Disagree, like said before, UBCS is not part of Umbrella (this is stressed by Carlos in #3), so associating them with Umbrella isn't just in bad tastes but its wrong.

Also, Umbrella's article is already extremely long, merging it would make it much too big. Kepp it here, there's nothing wrong with it.

Disagree. Although they're on Umbrealla's payroll, they have very different ideals. Yes, it is a part of Umbrella, but it's more of a faction within the company than anything else. CardinalFangZERO 20:34, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Those aren't Steyrs. They are IMI Tavior-21s.

Those rifles used during RE: Apocalypse are not Steyr AUGs. They are Israeli Military Industries Tavor-21 Bullpup assault rifles.

[securityarms] has a good photo of both types of rifle. They look similar, but are infact very different, as the Tavor has a more advanced Optical sighting system, similar to that of the FN P90 or the HK G36.

[edit] Comparable to the French Foreign Legion?

Just like UBCS, the French Foreign Legion is comprised mainly of criminals and mercenaries. Does anyone think that should be noted in the article? CardinalFangZERO 18:13, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

This was before. Now FFL recruiters and screeners carefully check and recheck their backgrounds to make sure they don't have criminal records. 70.68.46.180 17:59, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] UBCS personnel

Should we include the ones from the S.D Perry novels on from official/licensed Capcom games and movies only since I saw some more names? 70.68.46.180 22:04, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

The extra characters appear in a short film called Biohazard 4D Executer, and is an official release. If you wish to add characters appearing in novels and such, I would only suggest that you are sure to add that the characters appear in non-canon media. We have non-canon characters on several other RE pages, so this should be okay. Gamer Junkie 00:06, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
I did the characters from Biohazard 4D Executor. 70.68.46.180 01:36, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Good. By the way, might I suggest registering an account? It would be good to be able to keep in contact with members who actively participate in editing RE articles. Gamer Junkie 01:21, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm registered under Ominae. Didn't have time to use it since I was busy preparing for my final exams. 70.68.46.180 01:27, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mission codename

I was under the impression that the code used by the U.B.C.S. supervisors for their secret mission was actually, "Bravo-16" which was used in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Can anybody provide some sort of evidence that it was, in fact, "Operation Watchdog" that was used and when this code was used? Gamer Junkie 15:58, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
