I love to listen my favorite bands: Blur, Karnak, Radiohead, Cake, The Divine Comedy, Oingo Boingo, Suede, Pato Fu, Bad Religion, among others. I like also to play some stuff - I studied piano for 7 years and I play some guitar, studied on my own.
[edit] Internet
I always liked computers. I earned my first one in 1995, when the only way to connect anywhere outside your home was the BBS's. In the same year, Internet became popular in Brazil and after two years I got my first Internet connection. In 1999, I started a Blur-related website called Blurbox [1], along with two girls that I've met on the Net; we started an e-mail based discussion list, and in 2000, I met the lovely girl that I would marry almost exactly three years after. That's the main reason I moved to Rio (she's carioca). And that's why Internet and Blur are an important part of my life.
[edit] Behavior
I am a person with strong principles about a lot of themes. One of them affects me the most: I think that things should be done by the rules. It's really simple, but here in Brazil, we have a culture that preaches that one should do whatever he could do to solve a problem, doing it by the rules or not. It is called jeitinho brasileiro, or the "Brazilian way". This is something that can be used for good and bad purposes, but in both ways, the ability of using it is highly appreciated by Brazilians in general.
Anyway, Brazilians in general can't see that the advantage they are taking of something often causes problems for people around. In my opinion, that's the reason this country has a lot of environmental issues. Corruption, generally attributed only to Brazilian politicians, is practiced to almost every department of the public sector (and some of the private too). Furthermore, these "workarounds" are not applied only in big problems; every little act in daily life must be done with the jeitinho brasileiro in mind.
That's why I dream about leaving this country. I'm not currently looking for work outside my country because I think I don't have enough knowledge and experience to estabilish me and my wife in another country. But as soon as I feel prepared to settle things up, I'll go.
