Ulrich's personality is modeled after a stereotypical samurai's. Ulrich much prefers the ways of the warrior, and takes his responsibility as protector very seriously, especially over his good friend, Yumi, whom he loves very much. Oh, and to Aelita, of course. --User:Angie Y.

- Is Ulrich suffering from depression/clinical depression? He seems to go into these periods of introspection and distress (esp. about relationship w/ Yumi). Is there ever going to be an episode about Ulrich seeing a therapist or something?

What the heck is on the back of Ulrich's outfit in Lyoko? It looks like a...like a....KFan II

According to Japanese culture, it's a picture of a oni/Youma, which is Japanese for "demon". Plus, Ulrich's costume and weapon are modeled after the sword and outfit of a samurai. --User:Angie Y.

[edit] Ulrich's Outfit Relation to Yumi's
If Ulrich is of german desent, then how come he's a samurai on Lyoko? Would this have anything to do with Yumi? Were they friends before they found lyoko, or more than friends? - ... I don't know...
Perhaps it was the creator's attempt to make Ulrich's person more appealing to anime fans - this is simply my opinion. And, you may or may not have noticed, but neither Ulrich, Yumi, Odd, or William had a choice as to what their LYOKO character configuration would be like; the fact that he's a "samurai" on LYOKO has nothing to do with Yumi at all.
Ulrich didn't think much of Yumi until he started working together with her on LYOKO. In fact, I do not think that they even knew each other before they met at LYOKO. As to what is the degree of their relationship... well, it seems rather complex, to me, 'chap. Perhaps they're in Limbo, as far as them being either freinds or lovers. (If you don't know what I meant by that, I meant that they're sort of inbetween freinds and lovers, wavering back and forth from one to the other, but otherwise inbetween, most of the time.) They may say that they simply want to be freinds, but, it seemed like idle words, to me. - Shinmeiryuu
