I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article U-lik.com, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:U-lik.com. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.--Fuhghettaboutit 03:43, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

I will not argue over U-lik.com deletion if it doesn't fit the general policy. I can wait for other wikipedians to get interested in U.[lik] and I will delete the article myself based on your return. I have also a more described version in my sandbox.

Nevertheless, Collaborative Systems are still on their early days. It's formed by small communities and explain why traffic is not heavy (if we except ready to go music system like pandora or last.fm). This article is mainly interesting for people trying to break CF to get to a decent result (better than the 34% evaluated trough Monte Carlo technics). Furthemore, U-lik is commited to University researches and works with 2 schools in France, the point of me creating an article was to give the opportunity to let Universitarian discover what we do and how we made the research go further. We work on a technology that bridges Collaborative Filetring and Content Based (like pandora) approaches, the community in France is really small and we'd loved to create interaction and discussion with US University searchers.

Hi again Ulikleafa. I got your message. The reason I don't think the article belongs here is that encyclopedias are not the place to announce new things which rely on themselves as the primary source of information. Instead, an encyclopedia is a tertiary source which synthesizes already existing information from secondary sources about things that are notable (note that notable is not a reflection on worth; things may be great but unknown). This is all wrapped up in various policies and guidelines such as verifiability, a prohibition on original research providing reliable sources and standards for notability which, in this case, would probably come from a specific subsection guideline covering notability of websites at WP:WEB.
Please note that there is no policy or guideline stopping you from removing the proposed deletion template I added to the page—in fact, that is the expected way for you to protest the proposed deletion. However, if you do so, the article can still be taken to articles for deletion where a more formal debate occurs to decide whether to keep the article. Please take none of this personally. Thousands of articles are deleted every day. Having a first article proposed for deletion can sour some people on the site as a whole, but your response to the proposed deletion seems quite level-headed, and I hope that even if the article is deleted, you'll stick around and continue contributing. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit 16:04, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
