UFC Fight Night 9 is a mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.[1] It will be broadcasted live in the United States and Canada on Spike TV.
The card will feature two top lightweight contenders in the main event, Joe Stevenson, the welterweight winner of the UFC reality television show The Ultimate Fighter 2, and fellow castmate Melvin Guillard. Also set to return is former UFC Lightweight Championship challenger Kenny Florian.
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir was originally set to fight Antoni Hardonk at UFC Fight Night 9, but was forced to withdraw from the card due to a shoulder injury.[2] In Mir's place will be Justin McCully, a member of Tito Ortiz' fight camp Team Punishment. Also removed from the card were welterweights Anthony Torres – a castmember of The Ultimate Fighter 2 – and Jeff Joslin, who withdrew from their bouts against respective opponents Roan Carneiro and Kuniyoshi Hironaka.
