[edit] Jessie Matthews
Hmmm... she was included in The Jewish Chronicle's Dec. 15 listing of notable British Jews throughout history. It is kind of a weird mistake to make if that's the case. Dunno. It is hard to find info on her to find out for sure or more. Mad Jack 20:12, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
- LOL no those names (of her grandparents) definitely don't sound Jewish... where did you find them, btw? Muriel Spark may well be halachaically Jewish. It's a little debate she's having with her son, or had. Her (Muriel's) son has said that grandma Spark was Jewish; Muriel says no. I can look up the article if you want to read about that; I suspect the son is right. (Ah, I noticed someone mentioned that on her talk page; it says her mother's named was Sarah Hyams.... which sounds pretty Jewish) Anyway, I think it's clear that Matthews was not born Jewish; your evidence is pretty strong. However, maybe she was a convert to Judaism? That would explain it. Too bad there isn't a lot of info out on her. Oh, and happy holidays to you too! Mad Jack 23:39, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
