This is necessary, because a basin shaped surface produces reflection better that a flat surface.

This sentence is almost physically painful to read. Never mind that it's a very special kind of "basin" called a circular paraboloid, never mind that a flat mirror can't focus light at all... it's a "basin" because it "produces reflection better".
