U.S. Route 97 Alternate (Washington)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

U.S. Route 97 Alternate is an alternate route of U.S. Route 97 in Washington that travels along the western and opposite side of the Columbia River.

Alt US 97 is 39.95 miles long. It's Southern terminus is Wenatchee, Washington and it's northern terminus is Chelan, Washington.

Alt US 97 was once the original U.S. Route 97 until 1987, where it was aligned with the current U.S. Route 2 between Wenatchee, Washington and Orondo, Washington. (Prior to 1987, the highway heading north between Orondo, Washington and Chelan, Washington was signed as State Route 151.)

After State Route 151 was re-signed as U.S. Route 97, along the Eastern side of the Columbia River, the old highway was re-signed as an Alternate Route.
