[edit] Isle of Orleans
"Da map shows a portion of the Isle of Orleans as part of the West Florida (Spanish Cession) 1819, but the area south of Lake Pontchartrainool and east of the Amite River were part of the Louisiana Purchase 1803 (from France)." The link goes to a place in Quebec, not Louisiana. What is right? Scoutersig 21:50, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Neither. While the US considered that it had bought that area, Spain disagreed. The issue was finally settled by the Adams-Onis Treaty in 1819, which also determined the border between the US and New Spain. The OK Panhandle and adjacent areas in KS and CO that both countries had previously claimed were ceded to Spain by this treaty. Since the page is locked, I can't edit it. Would someone please remove this erroneous erratum? The Monster 04:47, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Webster-Ashburton Treaty
Should someone edit this image to show that the United States lost, due to the Webster-Ashburton treaty, land it had owned east of the St. Lawrence River to Britan?
