The song is based on a popular mins-spirited children's chant, used to insult other children; it's been around for decades. Many of the instances below may be simply quotes of the original chant, and not the song itself. For instance, the 1986 film Wildcats features a variation of the chant, by a group of high-school cheerleaders ( "U-G-L-Y, you ain't got no alibi, you UGLY! What-what! Yo' mama says you ugly!").
