Tyrannus (comics)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tyrannus (real name Romulus Augustilus) is an immortal supervillain in the Marvel Universe. His most consistent enemy however has been fellow supervillain Mole Man.

He debuted in Incredible Hulk #5 (January 1963), where he wooed Betty Ross underground and kidnapped her with his Moloids. When the Hulk challenged him, he agreed to give her back on the condition that the Hulk performed a list of nigh-impossible menial tasks. However, eventually the Hulk completed the list, and Tyrranus was forced to honour his word. Since then, he has plagued several superheroes. When last seen, however, he had decided to gain revenge on the Hulk by using advanced technology to temporarily drive into destructive rampages. He has not been seen since.

It should be noted that Tyrannus currently occupies the human body of Emil Blonsky, the Abomination and not his original body.

The character is based on Romulus Augustus, Western Roman Emperor from 475 to 476.

[edit] Powers and abilities

Tyrannus has no super-powers or abilities, but has access to weapons created by Deviant technology. He was granted immortality after drinking from the Fountain of Youth. He is also, presumably, a good horseman and general.
