[edit] Which is bigger, Sunderland or Newcastle?

The Metropolitan Borough of Sunderland (City of Sunderland) is bigger than the Metropolitan Borough of Newcastle Upon Tyne, however this includes areas such as Hetton and Eppleton, and even parts of Gateshead. The actual city part of the Borough, the area truly known as Sunderland is smaller than the city part of Newcastle.

See: List_of_English_cities_by_population
as opposed to: List_of_English_districts_by_population

This article refers to the cities rather than the boroughs, therefore the fact about Sunderland being bigger is untrue.
