The Tyler Roughnecks were a minor league baseball team located in Tyler, Texas. The team, which existed for one season (2001), played in the independent All-American Association, and was un-affiliated with any major league baseball team. The Roughnecks ended the 2001 season with a 40-32 record, which was good enough for a 3rd-place finish and a post-season berth. Tyler lost to the Albany Alligators in the best-of-3 semifinals, 2 games to 1 -- including a heart-breaking loss in an epic, 12-inning Game 3. The 'Necks played their home games at historic Mike Carter Field, which has been home to various professional, semi-professional, and collegiate Baseball teams dating back to 1941.
