[edit] The OTCS poster

I'm no expert, but I believe you cannot release the file into public domain, as it contains imagery from content whose copyright doesn't belong to you, namely the Counter Strike stuff.--Drat (Talk) 01:57, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Oblivion spoiler

Yes, there's a spoiler tag, but it doesn't mean spoilers should be present in a main WP article.
I think this specific article should not have this specific spoiler, because, first, this is a very extensive spoiler, retelling of a plot. Look around: WP articles about games don't have their stories told. This has a reason. WP guidelines also explicitly recommend not to include walkthroughs.
Second, the game has just been released. Such spoilers take a lot of fun away, and, in this case, from most gamers. So I see no reason to have such a spoiler in the article. It isn't needed to describe what king of game it is. So I'm sorry if that offends you, but please spare the players who don't know the plot yet. Spoilers would better be in wikibooks.

  • However, films do. Check any popular film article and it has an extensive re-telling of the movie's plot and happenings. --Tykell 09:22, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your comments

I'm not sure I understand the comment you left on my talk page. You said "Hope you're proud of yourself. --Tykell 02:57, 3 April 2006 (UTC)". What is this in reference to? SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 04:09, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Several images that you uploaded, Image:Otcsposter.jpg, Image:Jay.gif, Image:Hessotcs.jpg, Image:Vyrus.gif, Image:Collins.gif, Image:Meret.gif, Image:Bryy.gif, Image:Josh.gif, have been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in them not being deleted. Thank you.

[edit] Blocked

I've blocked this account until you assure me that you are not going to perform any further userpage-move vandalism. You are still able to edit this page to provide me with that assurance. Jkelly 00:06, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Consider yourself assured. --Tykell 00:34, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
You're unblocked. I'm not entirely convinced that it goes without saying that you shouldn't do that again, so I'm saying it. You may get caught in the autoblocker if you try to edit. If you do, let me know, and I will fix that as well. Jkelly 00:41, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
That was too easy for you, tyke. Just keep your hands off my userpage, please. Kelisi 02:26, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism on Blackhawks page

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism, and if you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the hard work of others. Thank you. RGTraynor 23:00, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Queen's University

Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on the contributor; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Ardenn 00:03, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

KEEP A COOL HEAD ARDENN!!!!!! --Tykell 00:05, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I do not see any "vandalizm"! KEEP A COOL HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! --Tykell 00:08, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Then you need to open your eyes, pal. Ardenn 00:11, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
I consider that a personal attack sir. I must ask you to leave. --Tykell 00:12, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert an article to a previous version more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. Ardenn 00:28, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 3RR on Queen's University

[edit] Meat Puppetry

It is considered highly inappropriate or unacceptable to externally advertise Wikipedia articles that are being debated, or where one wishes to stir up debate, in order to attract users with likely known views and bias, in order to strengthen one side of a debate and influence consensus or discussion. It's also inappropriate to invite "all one's friends" to help argue an article. Advertising or soliciting meatpuppet activity is not an acceptable practice on Wikipedia.

The arrival of multiple newcomers, with limited Wikipedia background and predetermined viewpoints arriving in order to present those viewpoints, rarely helps achieve neutrality and most times actively damages it, no matter what one might think. Wikipedia is not a place for mixing fact and opinion, personal advocacy, or argument from emotion. Controversial articles often need more familiarity with policy to be well edited, not less.

If you feel that a debate is ignoring your voice, then the appropriate action is not to solicit others outside Wikipedia. Instead, avoid personal attacks, seek comments and involvement from other Wikipedians, or pursue dispute resolution. These are quite well tested processes, and are designed to avoid the problem of exchanging bias in one direction for bias in another.

Policy on Meat Puppetry:

Ardenn 00:55, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

  • What the hell? Show some evidence I've "meat puppeted" or whatever the hell you call it, or get lost. --Tykell 01:57, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
    • Evidence Ardenn 02:06, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
      • HOw the hell is a reference to a YTMND joke evidence that I'm rallying people to fight you? --Tykell 02:10, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Civility

Hello there. Regardless of the on-going dispute, please try to remain civil in your dealings with fellow Wikipedians. Thanks, Mackensen (talk) 02:07, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Apology

I'm sorry for assuming that your friend asked you to log on just for the debate on the talk page of Queen's U. You have a long history of editing here, and I can only hope you will continue. I hope we can work togther amicably in the future. Ardenn 23:29, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Thank you. --Tykell 22:29, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Press kit images

Press kit images get released through the media usually when a player makes news. I myself don't have direct access to their press kit, but it is noted when images and such are released, such as A.J. Burnett's image and such. Darwin's Bulldog 21:51, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Civility

Please take a close look at Wikipedia:Civility. Your recent edits of [6] and [7] are completely out of line. I am going to ask you once to please stop using the term "Nigger" as a descriptor of an individual. It is considered to be a very offensive term. In addition do not recreate Category:Nigger again. Given your past history, and multiple blockings, you can consider this to be your only warning. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 07:00, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tang of Shang

Thanks for your contribution to Tang of Shang, but we are trying to write an encyclopedia here, so please keep your edits factual and neutral. Some readers looking for a serious article might not find them amusing. Remember, millions of people read Wikipedia, so we have to take what we do a bit seriously here. If you'd like to experiment with editing, use the Sandbox to get started. I hope you can help us out! moink 08:51, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Snakesonaplane.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Snakesonaplane.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NB: You claimed public domain, but since you also stated that it was taken from a website, this claim is likely false.--Eloquence* 14:28, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Kaberleaction.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Kaberleaction.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Khatru2 04:56, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:AndyFrost.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:AndyFrost.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:06, 7 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 01:06, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Kaokan.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Kaokan.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
