Twyford, Buckinghamshire

Twyford is a village in Buckinghamshire, England. It is located in the Aylesbury Vale, about two miles west of Steeple Claydon, four miles north east of Bicester in Oxfordshire.

The village name is Anglo Saxon in origin, and means 'double ford'. It is a common name in England. The village has one public house called 'The Crown', a shop and Post Office called 'Grange Stores', a C of E Primary School, a C of E Church and a URC Chapel. Alongside the shop is a Chinese, Thai & English Takeaway called "Lucky Star".

The village has in the past had three public houses, but 'The Red Lion' and 'The Seven Stars' were both closed and converted in the past 15 years. The school once taught as few as 25 students, but has since recovered to its highest class numbers ever, at just over 60.
