Two Trees Sports College
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Two Trees Sports College is a Secondary School in Haughton Green, Denton, Tameside, Greater Manchester, England.
It was granted Sports College Status in 2006. Its headteacher is Mr N Condliffe.
It is currently placed at the top of the Tameside league tables with 98% A*-C GCSE results in 2005.[1]
Tameside Council has decided to close both Two Trees and the other comprehensive school in Denton, Egerton Park, with a view to the development of a brand new high school for the town which will open its doors in September 2010. This is believed to be due to the ageing and poor condition of both existing school buildings and drastically falling pupil numbers which will necessitate the reduction in school places across Tameside. This problem is particularly acute in the Denton area. The new school will be funded by the Building Schools for the Future programme.[2]
There was a campaign by The Village News to keep the school at its current site, however this was unsuccessful and the proposal of the Council was ratified on Wednesday, 15 November 2006
