Twin is most often used to refer to a pair of any similar objects or concepts:

• Twins are two or more siblings which gestated and were born together. Types of twins include:

  • Multiple births, while not necessarily twins, are sometimes referred to as "multiple twins".
• Twin can also refer to a doppelgänger or clone.
• Twin (mythology) are often a central theme in mythology.
• Twin Towers are any of a number of matching structures, most notably the former World Trade Center in New York City
• Twin city or twin town may refer to
  • Twin cities: two towns or cities that are geographically close to each other, and often referred to collectively.
    • The Twin Cities- most often used to describe the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area in Minnesota, United States.
    • The Twin Ports- Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin, United States.
  • Town twinning or sister cities: two distant cities agree to partner each other, for various reasons.
• A twin prime is a prime number that differs from another prime number by two.
• Two crystallites which share atoms at repeated intervals and have only a minor difference in orientation. These meet at a twin boundary.
