Twilight-Sky

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Twilight-Sky is a roleplaying site founded on May 2, 2005 with over 1200 registered members. Originally named December-Romance, an upgrade in the forum software over January and February of 2006 saw the domain name change to its current form (a popular option in a poll created before the upgrade). As well as being a roleplaying forum, Twilight-Sky has a thriving out of character community.

[edit] Categories

Twilight-Sky features categories for most facets of roleplaying. The site is broken up into seven main categories, two of which are reserved for out-of-character posting. The other five categories span the genres of roleplaying - Teens, Modern, Fantasy, Animals and Others (which contains categories related with existing material, such as books and television shows).

[edit] Criticisms

The site has come under small amounts of criticism due to its rules.

[edit] Five-line rule

The five-line rule, a rule stating that any in-character post shorter than five lines will result in a warning, is the most commonly-disputed rule due to the fact that it is somewhat subjective. The fonts vary between the various themes available for the site, and so posts that appear as four lines on one theme may appear as five on another. This rule is defended by the site's supporters as upholding a 'literate' atmosphere, and as such members should strive to avoid a situation where the grey area presents itself.

[edit] Auditions

The auditioning process was implemented after the re-opening of the site as Twilight-Sky, and has drawn some criticism for the way in which it is handled. The standards of the judges vary, resulting in varying levels of what is considered 'acceptable'. Additionally, the format of the audition (which requires two pieces of writing to be presented for judging) leaves the possibility of an applicant honing two pieces of writing to an acceptable level, then reverting to a less 'literate' standard afterwards.
