[edit] School description and mission statement

Tustin High School (THS) is the cornerstone of tradition and excellence in education in the City of Tustin and Orange County. As one of three comprehensive high schools in the Tustin Unified School District, THS will celebrate its eighty-fourth year of service in the Tustin community. Past Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) reviews show that THS has an honored history of success for students. For the past twelve years, THS has earned two, 6-year accreditations with a midterm review. Because of its rich traditions, THS has seen many second and third generation students graduate as well as graduates who return as faculty members. THS’s commitment to a rigorous academic environment and a standards-based curriculum in all courses has helped THS’s students achieve Expected School-wide Learning Results. Upon graduation, THS students will be:

  • effective communicators
  • independent seekers and users of knowledge
  • productive members of a democratic society
  • academic achievers

[edit] Sports and Notable Alum

Currently, four Tustin Alum play professional football in the N.F.L.: DeShaun Foster(Carolina Panthers), Matt McCoy(Philadelphia Eagles), Chris Chester (Baltimore Ravens), and Frostee Rucker (Cincinnati Bengals). Of the four, three were teammates on the 2001 team that lost in the CIF semi-finals to Irvine High. Each player was taken in the third-round of the NFL draft or earlier. Sam Baker and Chris Barrett, both currently starters, have thus far won two National Championships playing for the University of Southern California, and were also members of that same 2001 team. It should be noted that All-America OT Sam Baker is projected as a first-round draft choice when he chooses to declare for the NFL Draft. Among other notable sports alums are: Shawn Green (New York Mets), Mark Grace (Chicago Cubs) (retired), and Doug Gottlieb (ESPN analyst). In other arenas, Cuba Gooding, Jr. also briefly attended Tustin High. And Frank Lopes, World Tiddlywinks Champion, 1984-2004.
