Turpentine is a post-rock/indie band from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Formed in 2003 by Anabel Gorbatt (guitar and vocals) and Alejo Ulises Viola (drums), Pablo Gustavo Bracamonte (bass) joined them. In 2004 Leandro Julián Potroel replaced Viola and in early 2005 Nicolás Alonso (guitar and piano) joined the band. By the end of 2006 Turpentine has released two EPs Our Ways Back To Chaos and Honey Births, A Salt Troupe (both of them available online at their webpage), appears in various magazines and has performed in several festivals from the argentinian indie music scene.
[edit] Sound
Their sound can be described as post-rock with elements of noise rock, influenced by bands such as Unwound, Mogwai, Yo La Tengo and Modest Mouse. Even being from a Spanish speaking country, their lyrics are sung in English.
