"Turn Me On" (2003/2004) |
"Last Drop" (2004) |
"Turn Me On" is the first single from Kevin Lyttle's self-titled debut album. The song is originally a soca ballad recorded in 2001 but released in 2003, however in the United States it was released in Summer 2004 and slightly remixed into a dance hit rather than a reggae hit.
The song is Lyttle being very turned on by a girl in a club as he sings "you've got me goin' crazy, you, turn me on, turn me on". He makes some reference of the girl pushing him off and Lyttle then says" if you think your gonna get away from me, you better change your mind". The end of the song does not tell if the girl goes home or does not go home with him, however, in the music video, the girl is dancing with Kevin Lyttle as if she is also turned on.
There are various remixes of the song. Many radio stations played the pop mix that had added drums to it to have a more club feel. Another is a Bubbling/Part II remix by DJ Lipe (Santiago,Chile), which the girl is on the track and is turned on. It also has a club feel.
[edit] Chart Performance
The song performed very well on the Billboard Hot 100, staying months on the chart and peaking at #4. The music video was released on May 24, 2004 and performed well on MTV's Total Request Live. Worldwide, the song did well, reaching #2 in the United Kingdom, #11 in Finland, and #3 in Australia.
