Turkmanchai

Turkmanchai (also written Turkemanchay, Turkamanchay, and Turkmanchay) is a region in the East Azerbaijan province of Iran. Other names include: Turkmānchāi, Torkamān Chāy, Torkaman, Torkamān.
Turkmanchai is a small city in the north-western Iranian province of East Azerbaijan, on the southern side of the Bozgush(The Brown Bird). The primary language is Turkish. The climate of the city is Mediterranean, as there are very cold winters and fair summers. The city has many guests in the springs and summer seasons.
Turkmanchai is well-known for The Turkmanchai Treaty of 1828, which divided Azerbaijan's territory between Persia (now Iran) and Russia at the end of the Russo-Persian War.
The city is divided into four village districts, including Central Bavanan, Western Bavanan and Uch Tape. Some of its villages are Varzegan, Kaley, Varankesh, Gogdare, Khajayas, Upper and Lower Soma, Chanag Bulagh, Sheykh Ahmadlu, Upper and Lower Kusalar, Khaton Abad, Gabag Tape, Malla Haje, Tandirly, Yerja, Blokan, Urange, (Ancient Village of Kool Demi), Gharib dost, Gavanli, Mehmandost and Selian.
