Turkish Spahis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sipahi (Ottoman Turkish: سپاهی; also transliterated as Spahia or Spahiu in Albanian, Spahi, Sepahi, and Spakh) was the name of an Ottoman cavalry corps. The Turkish Sipahis were always very trained and diciplined. When prepared for battle they usually carried a heavy mace, a light sword, and wore heavy armour with a turban incorporated with light protection in form of arched chains.
