That size "left to the option of readers" is the default size. The photos will vary in size between computer monitors and individual options no matter what indication of pixels you include, and regardless of whether you introduce one at all. Consequently, this would be regarding the ratio of photo to the page - on my monitor, they show up as big as stamps (which is ridiculous, considering that the pictutres contain details), and I don't feel like like changing my settings just for pictures in this article. Including pixel mentions is a universal practice, and I'm getting quite tired of original takes and theories on such trivial matters.
