Tupaciguara

Tupaciguara is a city and municipality located in the Triângulo Mineiro, (the Minas Gerais triangle) one of the richest agricultural regions of Brazil. The population in 2002 was 23,319 and the total area of the municipality is 1,836.6 km² It became a city in 1911 and lies at an altitude of 865 meters.
The city is located just south of the Goiás border, which is formed by the Itumbiara reservoir, damming up the Paranaíba River.
It is 598 km. from the state capital, Belo Horizonte. Neighboring municipalities are Arapora, Monte Alegre de Minas, Uberlândia, and Araguari.

Like most of the cities in this region the economy is dependent on cattle raising (108,000 head), and growing of agricultural products such as cotton, rice, sugarcane, corn, soybeans, and tomatoes.
