[edit] Plot outline

Mr. Crepsley mysteriously says that they must move on and go somewhere else. He also says that Evra can come too. They go to Mr. Crepsley's hometown (before he was blooded). They stay in a hotel, but Mr. Crepsley leaves every night, leaving Evra and Darren alone. His life is disturbed by the fact that on news he hears of victims that were found in a basement drained of blood. He suspects his mentor Mr. Crepsley for the murders and tries to face him, but discovers that it was actually a work of a mad vampaneze named Murlough.

In this book Darren meets for the first time a girl named Debbie in which he falls in love. But Murlough manages to catch Evra, and drag him down into his hiding place in the sewer. Finally Darren decides to trade life of his girlfriend Debbie for Evra's. In fact it is a trap in which Mr.Crepsley is waiting for the mad vampaneze. The fight is quickly over and Larten Crepsley is the victor. Mr. Crepsley stuck his entire forearm into Murlough's stomach and pulls out his guts. Murlough's last words to Darren were,"Cluh-cluh-cluh-clever buh-buh-buh boy, hmmm." Then, he fell face flat and dies. They go back to the sewers to save Evra, but chances are that he'll never see Debbie again.
