From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tungsram is a Hungarian manufacturer of light bulbs and vacuum tubes since 1896, now a subsidiary of General Electric and used as a brand name only.

This company announced the patent for electric bulbs with Wolfram filament in 1903. Later in 1934, they also announced a patent for Imre Bródy's electric bulb filled with krypton. Both provide longer lifetime for electric bulbs.

The name Tungsram comes from Tungsten and Wolfram the names of the metal used for making filaments.
