Al-Tufayl ibn Amr al-Dawsi (d. 633) was the chief of the Banu Daws tribe from Tihama in pre-Quranic times. He accepted Islam before the hijra and helped propagate Islam among his fellow tribesmen. During the Riddah wars, he led a contingent of his people against the impostor Mosailima. In the battle of al-Yamamah, Tufayl ibn Amr fell as a martyr.
