[edit] History

TRD was formed in 2003 by founder Kim Kysar, aka Kim Sin, when the Tucson roller derby teams broke away from the Phoenix based Arizona Roller Derby league (AZRD) to form its own league. Irreconcilable differences between the Tucson team and the leaders of AZRD have been rumored to be the cause of the split. At the time of the split, Tucson Roller Derby consisted of one team, The Furious Truckstop Waitresses (FTW). Since then, Tucson Roller Derby has more than doubled in size, adding the Iron Curtain in 2004, the Vice Squad in 2005 and the Copper Queens in 2007. Meanwhile, AZRD has undergone two more league splits citing more irreconcilable differences.
