Tsilivi

Tsilivi (Greek: Τσιλιβι) is situated on the northeast coast of Zakynthos (Greek: Ζακυνθος), also known as (Zante). Nine kilometres from the airport and five kilometres from the capital of the island, Zakynthos Town, Tsilivi has fast become one of the main resorts on the island of Zakynthos. The resort has many family-run tavernas, restaurants, bars and nightclubs making it one of the islands ‘hotspots' for entertaining nightlife.

Until fairly recently Tsilivi was still quite a small resort, but it has expanded in recent years and become the place to stay for lively exciting holidays without moving away from its traditional Greek heritage. Now it is second only to Laganas in terms of size and nightlife.

The resort is set amongst olive groves and vineyards, and its special features include a fantastic golden sandy beach around two kilometres in length that is well worthy of its Blue Flag of Cleanliness reward.

It is a popular tourist seaside resort with a long, wide beach and is much favoured by holiday package tour operators. Most of the tourists are housed in apartments at the nearby village of Planos. Tsilivi has a sand beach with plenty of tourist facilities including umbrellas, showers and toilets. There are several tavernas backing the sands. The sea is very shallow and safe for children making the resort popular with families. There are the usual water sports.

The resort behind the beach has many restaurants and shops but notably poor roads, no pavements and few lights. To the west are a string of pretty and less populated beaches at Tragaki, Amboula and Bouka. The road to Bouka has the remains of a Venetian observatory. Inland at Farakino is a small waterpark that is popular with visitors. There are daily buses to Zakynthos Town.
