Mr. TSE Ping Fui
Mr. Tse Ping Fui is one of the most well respected veteran scout leaders in Hong Kong. He is affectionately known as “Lo Chung” which means “Chief” in Chinese.
Mr. Tse joined scouting as a boy scout before the 2nd World War when he was studying in the St. Paul’s College. He was a Rover Scout at the eve of the 2nd World War. During the defence of Hong Kong, Mr. Tse was a Dispatch Rider of the Boy Scouts Dispatch Riders Corps. Mr. Tse retreated to China after the fall of Hong Kong and continued the Resistance War as a Liaison Officer and Interpreter of the Chinese Army of the 7th War Zone with the rank of an Army Major.
Mr. Tse returned to Hong Kong and resumed his scouting after the 2nd World War. He was warranted as Assistant Scoutmaster of 10th Hong Kong Group of his Ala Mater – St. Paul’s College in 1946. He became a District Commissioner in 1955 and Area Commissioner for the Hong Kong Island, Lantao Island and Cheung Chau Island in 1961. He became the Chief Camp Warden in 1971 until his retirement from active uniform duty in 1983.
Mr. Tse is still an active lay member and supporter of Scout Association of Hong Kong. He is still an Executive member of the Hong Kong Island Region Scout Executive Committee. In 2004 he was awarded with Long Service Medal with 4 stars signifying that by 2004 he has completed 55 years of active, faithful and loyal service as adult leader of the Scout Association of Hong Kong.
