On June 6, 2006 Braden Keil of the New York Post broke the story that famed real estate developer Donald Trump has proposed a 45-story luxury high-rise condominium & hotel at 246 Spring Street, between Varick Street and Sixth Avenue. The story reports that Donald Trump, Jr. has confirmed ground breaking is expected to begin this year. Donald Trump, Jr., his sister Ivanka Trump, and "The Donald" will be overseeing this project, to be called Trump International Hotel and Tower SoHo, along with The Apprentice season 5 winner Sean Yazbeck, who chose this project over the Trump International Hotel and Tower (Honolulu) project on the June 5, 2006 Apprentice season finale.

The project will be a $370 million dollar, 45 story, 400+ unit hotel condominium. The building will feature a spa, a high-end restaurant as well as over 28,000 square feet of retail space. A unique feature of the hotel will be its 360-degree views from the 12th floor and up. The location is about 3 blocks from the Holland Tunnel.

The New York Post also reports that one of the developers of the building is Tamir Sapir, the former cab driver who made headlines by paying $40 million for the Duke Semans mansion.

In a recent article it was reported bones, apparently from a 19th-century church graveyard turned up on the site where the tower is to be built.

[edit] Education

Trump SOHO will zoned to schools in the New York City Department of Education.
