[edit] Image Tagging for Image:Sampleusc.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Sampleusc.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Preview
I would like to thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thanks again. -Will Beback 22:15, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Graduate Rankings
I understand that the WSJ ranking is more flattering but the USNWR ranking is ALSO correct. Kind of ridiculous to substitute another (more favorable) ranking from another publication when USNWR is the oft-cited one. If anything, include both -- not just the ego-feeding one.
[edit] License tagging for Image:Univave1960.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Univave1960.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:07, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image licensing
I note you have tagged Image:Galencenter1.jpg, Image:Galencenter2.jpg, and Image:Galencenter3.jpg as "GFDL no disclaimers". Do you have any evidence that the copyright holder has actually licensed these images under the GFDL? --Carnildo 00:32, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- I have the same quesiton about Image:Uscsonggirls1.jpg, which is apparently from this site, [http://www.usc.edu/student-affairs/IMREC/spirit/song/home.html[, which has a clear copyright notice. Please respond. -Will Beback 00:17, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Popovich hall usc.jpg listed for deletion
I have noticed, as did two others above, that a number of your other images seem to be highly suspect. Can you offer a justification for them being free-use images?
Placing a false tag on an image does not help Wikipedia. It only creates work for others and will eventually result in the image being deleted. BigDT 00:37, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Response to Picture Questions
My family has a long history at USC, and have worked with many friends of the school in the past to collect many of the University's pictures as well, and with that history is large files of pictures of different types and dates. I have compiled all of these different pictures into a cd and my goal has been to make them available onto wikipedia so that the USC webpage is as descriptive as possible, visual aids included.
- There is nothing wrong with collecting USC images for personal use. I do the same with Virginia Tech images - I have a large collection of them that I have accumulated over time. However, Wikipedia cannot use images unless they are subject to a free copyright or qualify as fair use. Unless you physically took the photograph, have permission from the person who did, or the image qualifies as fair use under WP:FAIR, it cannot be used on Wikipedia. Most of your images appear to be ones that came from other people's websites. As such, their copyrights are likely owned by someone else and they cannot be used on Wikipedia. I hope this helps. Please consider tagging any images you have uploaded that you do not own the copyrights for with {{db-author}} so that they can be deleted. BigDT 02:15, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] College Football Project
Hello, I noticed that you have edited a College football related article. You may be interested to know that there is a college football WikiProject which you can join if you like. We would love to have you! Also, on your year pages for USC Trojans (ie, 2006 USC Trojans football team, thank you for using the correct naming format we developed), you don't need a navigation box. Please use succession boxes. Further, it is not ideal to create a bunch of pages that are just stubs to begin with. It is preferred that you instead add some decent amount of content to each page. It doesn't have to be a finished project, but better than a stub. Please use the formats and ideas we've developed that are modeled on the 2006 Oklahoma Sooners football team article as well. Thank you. --MECU≈talk 01:01, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Individual team seasons
Hi - I'm not sure the articles for individual USC seasons (2006 USC Trojans football team, etc) are necessary; about a year or so ago, there was a long discussion regarding an article someone had started on the then-current New England Patriots season, and the consensus opinion was that the article was unnecessary (and deleted, I believe); I think the general opinion was that championship teams might deserve articles, but that most teams did not. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:1929nduscprogram.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:1929nduscprogram.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] The infobox you created at USC Athletics
Hey, I liked the work you did in creating the infobox for the USC athletic program, so I went ahead and made a template out of it. You can see it at Template:Infobox college athletics. I removed a couple sections (year athletic program was founded, list of all athletic facilities) but it's pretty much the same thing. If you could take a look at it and see if you think there's anything that needs to be changed about it, I'd appreciate it. I've added it to a few other pages (Missouri Tigers, Washington Huskies, and Oklahoma Sooners) and will be adding it to more athletic program pages over the next few days. Again, great work on the original infobox. -Elmer Clark 05:57, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
