"You want answers?

I think I'm entitled.

You want answers?!

I want the truth!

You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury, You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, You need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty... We use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

Did you order the Code Red?

I did the job I was sent to do--

Did you order the Code Red?

You're goddamn right I did!!

Please the court, I suggest the members be dismissed, so that we can move to an immediate article 39A session. The witness has rights.

Captain Ross?

Jack?

[Ross nods head]

The court members will retire to an ante room until further instructed. All Rise!

What is this? I did my job, I'd do it again. I'm gonna get in a plane and go back to my base.

You're not going anywhere, Colonel. MP's, guard the Colonel.

Yes, sir!

Captain Ross.

Colonel Jessup, you have the right to remain silent--

What is this? I'm being charged with a crime? Is that what this is? This is funny. That's what this is. This is-- [leaps towards Kaffee, MP's restrain him] I'm gonna rip the eyes out of your head, and piss in your dead skull! You fucked with the wrong Marine!

Colonel Jessup, do you understand these rights as I have just read them to you?

You fuckin' people. You have no idea how to defend a nation. All you did was weaken a country today, Kaffee. That's all you did. You put people's lives in danger. Sweet dreams, son.

Don't call me son. I'm a lawyer and an officer in the United States Navy. And you're under arrest, you son of a bitch. The witness is excused."

[edit] Welcome

Hi again Trosk. I'm glad we could resolve the problem with your block! I've also noticed the fantastic explosion of userboxen on your userpage. Mmm... what is your catchphrase :) ? Well, if you have any urgent questions you could use {{helpme}} again, or feel free to drop by my talk page and ask me there (or the Help desk is a place to get help with editing Wikipedia). By the way, how did you hear about the {{helpme}} service, it's brand new and we were wondering how people heard of it? Below I have presented a few useful links:

Yeah, I was just scaring him. :) I would've waited until he'd vandalized at least 2 or 3 times more before posting him to the Admin noticeboard. - dharmabum 23:49, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] help me - blcoked

Some guy called RoyBoy blocked my IP. What's up with that? This message is my forst edit today! Trosk 16:03, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

RoyBoy may have blocked an IP which you inadvertendly used (so called collateral damage). Can you paste the full block message and your IP here, and I'll take a look at the situation.--Commander Keane 16:13, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

My IP is 71.250.47.143

Here's the block message: 15:59, 21 February 2006 RoyBoy blocked "71.250.47.143 (contribs)" with an expiry time of 48 hours (Current World Wrestling Entertainment roster vandal). Thanks again, man. We're making a habit of this :) Trosk 16:24, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

I have unblocked the IP. - RoyBoy 800 16:33, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

This person once again got me blocked, but I feel it's neccesary he learn his lesson. Thank you. Trosk 23:17, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

Your conflict with Bcarlson33 appears to be all-in-good-fun to me. Just walk away from the situation. --Commander Keane 08:55, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your userpage was briefly delisted by a rogue admin

This user believes that only articles need reflect a NPOV, and that displaying political, religious, or other beliefs using userboxes and user categories should not be banned.

You have a userbox Template:User UN which links your userpage to United Nations Wikipedians. There is currently a movement to ban userboxes from Wikipedia which are shared and which create Lists of Wikipedians. Certain admins have taken it upon themselves to preemptively sabotage and/or delete such categories and template. Here is the incident report which reported damage to yours, in which hundreds of userpages were delinked from categories without the users' knowledge. They have been stopped, barely, and the damage reverted— for now.

There is a Wikipedia:Userbox policy poll, which if passed, will make required by policy the damage done to categories and templates such as User UN/United Nations Wikipedians. If you do not want this to happen, I urge you to vote Oppose. in the poll. Support is currently running at about 66%, and your vote could make the difference. It is said to require 75%-80% to be deemed reflective of consensus.

Thank you,

[edit] RE: Previous WWE Roster

Well, the fact that you kept using the word "former" to describe why Previous is better than Former should tell you something. But seriously, to me, "previous" sounds too time specific, and "roster" denotes a current connotation. About the page itself, I could say "former members of the WWE roster" to describe it. By calling it "previous WWE roster", to me it sounds like it means "this is what the roster looked like at such-and-such a time", which to me is not an accurate description in my mind, since the roster is continuously changing. This is why I prefer Former WWE performer over Previous WWE roster. --JFred 23:20, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I realize the current roster is ever changing to, but as I said above "to me, previous sounds too time specific, and roster denotes a current connotation". --JFred 19:30, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Maybe we should pose this as a question on Wikiproject Pro Wrestling, see what others think the best name should be, so we can get a concensus. --JFred 19:33, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Done. --JFred 20:36, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Substituting templates

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. —Whomp [T] [C] 02:33, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unblock

I am blocked, and I did no such thing as the reason listed.

OK, it's an autoblock by the software. Paste all of the block message here and we will take a look.--Commander Keane 12:18, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

"Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing. You were blocked by Zzyzx11 for the following reason (see our blocking policy): blanking WWE related pages, was warned Your IP address is 71.250.45.4."

There you go. Trosk 12:55, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Should be fixed now. Sorry for the delay.--Commander Keane 13:20, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. Trosk 13:21, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Unfortunately, be prepared that the IP address 71.250.45.4 might be blocked even further. Whoever was on there made a few more vandalism edits after it was unblocked: [1] [2] [3] [4]
Cheers Zzyzx11 (Talk) 21:43, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
In fact, the chances of another admin blocking 71.250.45.4 for a longer period of time may be greater because when looking Special:Contributions/71.250.45.4, all of the edits made so far have mostly been vandalism. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 21:54, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

So, what do I do if he's blocked for a very long time, and my IP stays the same as his? How do IP's work, anyway? Trosk 02:42, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

{{unblock|Are you kidding me? This guy got blocked for 1 week, and I have to suffer for it? I mean, I understand why he's been blocked, but why do ''I'' have to suffer from it? How long until my freakin' IP changes? Well, here's the block message: Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing. You were blocked by (aeropagitica) for the following reason (see our blocking policy): vandalism. Your IP address is 71.250.45.4. }}

Really, this action is automatically built in the software, nothing can be done. You seem to have the hang of using the unblock template just fine, although a politer request would be appreaciated. pschemp | talk 05:05, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, I'm frustated because this is constantly happening. Trosk 19:20, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

There you go, just happened again. Trosk 19:48, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I'll look into it. In the meantime, please place {{unblock}} on your talk page with that explanation. --Pilot|guy 19:53, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Okay, thanks.

unblock|As you can see, a vandal keeps vandalizing, and I keep suffering from it. Is there any way I can be unblocked, and he can stay blocked? I just looked at his talk/contribution page, and he definitely deserves a block, but I'm quite frustrated getting blocked because of him. What if it comes to the point where his IP is blocked idefinitely? What will that mean for me?

unblocked again. pschemp | talk 03:17, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Trosk, you may not be the same person as the IP, but your contribs show that you never edit at the same time as the IP and have edited some of the same pages. Due to this discrepency, I have reblocked the IP while the matter is investigated. Please contact you IP at abuse@verizon.net to report the IP vandalism and ask how to get your IP address re-assigned. this may be as simple as disconnecting and reconnecting your modem or router, but each ISP is different. Contacting them is the best solution. pschemp | talk 11:39, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

You're accusing me of that? That is outrageous! I apologize, but I need to cool down a bit. Trosk 17:06, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Helpme

At this time, I DO NOT wish to be unblocked; however, pschemp has claimed that I am the same person as the vandal. This is outrageous; I have been nothing but a good editor since that issue with Curps. Why is it assumed that I am the vandal when I simply don't post at the same time as him, and have some of the same interests?

I really don't have an answer for that. Why are any assumptions made? I certainly have to make assumptions as an admin, occasionally they will be wrong, but they must be made because we don't have the tools to be sure yet the encyclopedia must keep ticking over. {{helpme}} really can't help answer this question.--Commander Keane 17:35, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I understand.... Trosk 17:37, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I didn't say you were the vandal, I said it was possible and we would look into it. However, I also gave you several suggestions that might help your situation. Have you tried any of them? The reality is, as soon as this address is unblocked, vandalism starts again and it gets reblocked. IF that keeps happening, the suggestions I noted above are the only thing that you can do to separate yourself from the vandal. I am assuming good faith and once more unblocking but I can't guarentee that it wll stay that way. pschemp | talk 19:15, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, I just checked his talk page, and it seems like that sentence about further action scared him a bit. Hopefully, this is just some punk who will leave after the message at the bottom of the template. Trosk 19:49, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I saw the man being interviewed on Australian TV. And is mention in the wikipedia article: Steve_Irwin#Family. Perhaps some other Australians can verify this.--Greasysteve13 01:28, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re: becoming an admin

Hi - I saw your question at WP:HD about becoming an admin. The responses there are pretty close. Step 1 is to spend more time here, doing more things, building up more of an edit history (you currently have less than 500 edits, which I suspect doesn't meet anyone's criteria for being an admin). If you nominate yourself at this point, I'm absolutely sure your nomination will be rejected. If you pay attention to WP:RFA for a while, you'll see how it goes (many eager folks do exactly this, and are then discouraged by the results). I would recommend you not try this. If you spend a lot of time reverting vandalism, and pay attention to WP:AFD and WP:CFD and WP:TFD (and know what these are without clicking on them), and in general sort of already act like an admin, then you might make it. A large part of it is being known to the folks who typically !vote (do you know what this means?) at WP:RFA. If they haven't run into you, it's much harder. If you're sincerely interested, you might try Wikipedia:Esperanza/Programs#Admin Coaching. Good luck! -- Rick Block (talk) 03:38, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:NYR'07.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:NYR'07.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed.
