Tropojë is a town near the border of Kosovo in Tropojë District, Albania. Tropoje e vjeter (Old Tropoje), 240 meter above the sea level, is the name of the town at the foot of Shkelzeni Mountain (2807m ??) from which the region of Tropoja takes its name. The people are identified as tropojans (tro-poi-yanz).

Tropoje e vjeter was principally abitated from the tribe of Berisha (the actual prime minister Sali Berisha belongs to) and was the center of the commercial communications from east(Kosovo) to west side (Shkoder) in order to get imported products provenient from the Adriatic Sea. one of the principal trade was the salts interchanged with the blegtoral products.

Having this geographical importance, Tropoje e vjeter was the principal place of all the region.

Tropoje e vjeter in the native place of many people integrated in high social levels. such as Ram Bajram Mulaj - great leader of the region and identified for his wiseness and conducted different wars against the serbs.

Sali Bajraktari- Bajraktar (nobil title) of a territory (Shipshan, Kasaj) near Tropoje e vjeter. finished the Tecnical Harry Fultz School in 1924. Different charges before the communism system, even in Kosovo, as the Head of the municipal of Bec(Kosovo). He is known as the first person who has realized the study of a plum tree.
