Tropical Peninsular Railroad

Florida state law chapter 3336, approved March 8, 1881, incorporated the Tropical Peninsular Railroad Company.
Florida state law chapter 3490, approved March 6, 1883, changed the route:
- to construct and complete a railroad for transportation of passengers, goods and all other articles of freight from a point in Marion county, at or near Ocala, via Brooksville, in Hernando county, to the town or city of Tampa, in Hillsborough county, with branch roads leaving the main trunk road at some practicable point along said road in Hernando county, running to Crystal river and to Bay Port; also a road leaving the main trunk line running from Ocala to Tampa at some practicable point along said line of road running to Sumterville and Leesburg, in Sumter county, and to Orlando, in Orange county, and to some point in Dade county.
The deadline was changed; the work was to begin within 12 months of the new act, with completion within four years of March 8, 1881.
