Trondheim International School ("This") was founded by a group of parents, teachers and businessmen who decided that they wanted an alternative to the public schools. Thus, they founded "This" and it has since then grown. "This" is a bilingual school, educating mostly in English, and attracts many children of foreign couples who have not learned Norwegian yet. It is also part of the IB programme. Next year, in 2006/07, they are also planning on opening for 10th grade education. Since the school is so new, it is extensively equipped with IT technology and infrastructure and it is used a lot in education. Students currently at the school represent 18 different nationalities. As a sign of the international image of "This", school uniforms are required, which is not common in Norway (especially not in public schools).
