Trondheim Airport Station or Værnes Station is a train station located in the terminal of Trondheim Airport, Værnes in Stjørdal, Norway and is located on the railway line Nordlandsbanen. The station serves both local and express trains northbound to Innherred and Nordland and southbound to Trondheim. The commuter train between Steinkjer and Trondheim, Trønderbanen, operates at a one hour headway.
[edit] History
The station was built in 1994 as part of the new Terminal A at the airport, to allow dry transfer of passengers from the airplane to the train. It was the second in-terminal railway station in Europe when it opened, so successfull the same design was used for when the all-new Oslo Airport, Gardermoen opened four years later.
