Troll 2 is a 1990 horror film by Claudio Fragasso under the pseudonym Drake Floyd. The main plot is about a family trip in which a young boy named Joshua is chased by man-eating goblins in a town called Nilbog ("Goblin" spelled backwards, as Joshua realizes). The cast includes Michael Stephenson, George Hardy and Margo Prey. The film has no direct connection to the Empire Pictures film Troll. Indeed, despite the title, there are no trolls in Troll 2. The film is followed by Troll 3.
The noticeably low-budget Troll 2 (the goblins' costumes, designed by cult erotic actress Laura Gemser, consist of plastic masks) is not considered to be high-quality in general. As of 30 January, 2007, it is currently ranked at 14th place on IMDb's bottom 100 movies of all time.
Troll 2 was recently given Rifftrax treatment by Michael J. Nelson and special guest Richard Kyanka from Something Awful.
[edit] Plot
The Waits family goes on a vacation to a town called Nilbog, and are savagely attacked by goblins.
One infamous scene in the film involves an incident in which Joshua sees his family about to dine upon a feast prepared for them by the goblins. Joshua is informed by the ghost of his grandfather that this food will turn his family into a plant-like material for the goblins to eat. The ghost inexplicably freezes time to help prevent this tragedy, and Joshua now has a short time before they become unfrozen to find a way to prevent them from consuming the food. Joshua stands upon the table and proceeds to urinate on the food, mere seconds before his family are unfrozen. They look upon the table with disgust, shocked at what he has done. Joshua's father takes him into a back room and reprimands him for his action. The father shows his son a letter from the owners of the house they are staying at, and says: "Do you see this writing? Do you know what it means? Hospitality! And you can't piss on hospitality! I won't allow it!"
In the end, the family escapes the domain of the goblins and returns home. Joshua, upon entering his own house, discovers that the goblins are waiting for them, as he sees his own mother being devoured (this scene is not particularly gory, however, since the creatures look like they are merely smearing green goo across their mouths). The goblin looks at Joshua, smiles, and asks, out of sync, "Do you want some, Joshua?"
[edit] New York Screening
A public screening of the film along with Q&A with many of the cast members took place on 14 September 2006 at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City. More information about the screening can be found at the Troll 2 website.
