[edit] Full Metal Jacket?
IMDB does not list Troy as a location for this movie, and I'd be awfully surprised if it was, given Kubrick's normal practice of building all of his sets on sound stages in the UK. Can anybody confirm the addition of that movie in the Culture section as having used Troy as a location?--Gnhn 00:30, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Gnhn is correct in that the majority of the film was shot in the UK. The only scenes not shot in the UK were done on Parris Island, not in Troy. For reference, please see the filming locations for Full Metal Jacket as provided by IMDB.com. [edit] MapInfo is not in Troy
MapInfo only uses a Troy mailing address. I it is located in the RPI tech park, about 5 miles south of Troy. It has been there for over 10 years.
- I'm not so sure. Compare a Google map search for MapInfo near Troy with one for RPI tech park; the first fiew hits for both are all within a few hundred feet of each other, so I'd say both are in Troy – the south end of Troy to be sure, but still in Troy. —BenFrantzDale 02:24, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
- The RPI Technology Park is most definitely located within Troy's city limits. I'm also confused as to where "5 miles South of Troy" comes from, since I'm right near the top of Congress, and from here to the Tech Park is less than 4 miles. Deputy Marshall 13:49, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
Follow Up - MapInfo outside the City of Troy According to the following offical city map - http://www.troyny.gov/planning_zoning/troyzoningmap.pdf, the RPI Tech Park is south of the city limits of Troy. I would suggest rewording to say something like - MapInfo was founded in Troy, NY and is located in the region.

- It does appear from the map to be South of the city limits. However, every indication from every source is that the Rensselaer Technology Park is located in the city of Troy. Its mailing address is 100 Jordan Road, Troy, NY according to both the Park itself and all information available about the Park. So despite what the map may appear to indicate, it is considered to be within Troy, New York. Additionally, all arguments that "One Global Vw" is simply a mailing address need know that Global View is actually within the Rensselaer Technology Park. Mapinfo is NOT in the city limits of Troy, NY; neither is the RPI Tech Park in which it sits. The tech park and Mapinfo are in the Town of North Greenbush, a separate political entity south of the city of Troy. Zip code boundaries are made by the USPS and not affiliated with political boundaries whatsoever, a Troy zipcode does not make a business a Troy business.

You might be thinking of the Troy Haymakers, who I've heard on numerous occassions are considered to be one of (if not THE) earliest professional baseball team in the US. And yes, they should get a mention. Anyone got any information? Deputy Marshall 03:30, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

- Never mind. The players were split between the Giants and the crosstown Metropolitans of the American Association. When the Mets won the 1884 pennant, the best players on the team were moved to the Giants, who had the same ownership as the Mets. ςפקιДИτς 21:10, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

What external links do you mean? If it's something not directly related to Troy, and just there as a point of reference for something else, then I wouldn't think so. I looked it over and didn't see any duplication of map links, but I could be mistaken. Deputy Marshall 03:36, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

Should there be a seperate section in the main article specifically highlighting festivals and other annual (or otherwise regular) events (The Riverfront Arts Fest, Riverfest, Flag Day Parade, Victorial Stroll, etcetera) in Troy?--Deputy Marshall 06:28, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
