Tripoli is a film written by screenwriter William Monahan and to be directed by Ridley Scott, distributed by 20th Century Fox.

As of August 2005, 20th Century Fox has put this movie in turnaround, where other production companies can co-finance it. Bob Yari is one producer of consideration[1][2]

Russell Crowe and Ben Kingsley were originally cast, but recently as of August 2005, Keanu Reeves stepped on board.[1] It is not known if Ben Kingsley is still attached.

Mark Gordon[1] is producing, Ridley Scott is directing, and William Monahan wrote the screenplay.[1]
[edit] Storyline
The story is set in the early 1800s, during the First Barbary War, following U.S. diplomat William Eaton's assistance to overthrow a ruler with a contingent of Marines and Arab and Greek soldiers.[3]
