The show starts with introducing the participants who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship and due to receive a makeover. Woodall and Constantine would arrive at their homes and talk with the couple to establish what was lacking in their marriage and relationship, but also to see how their relationship has changed from previous years. Woodall and Constantine would then evaluate their wardrobe and style and soon after, ask them both to reveal each other behind a silhouette screen, where they would see each other nude, but with Woodall, Constantine and the audience at home only seeing a silhouette. Behind the screen, the participants would have to comment on what they thought was best about their partners body and figure. The fashion gurus give advice to the partners about their relationship and how it could be made stronger.

In preparation for a dinner which family and friends would attend, the participants would have to buy each other a complete outfit on their own, to be worn at the dinner. Each participant would then try the outfit on, where Woodall and Constantine would state the good points and suggest ways in which the outfit could be improved. Then at the dinner, the friends, family and participants would further evaluate the relationship in question, and discuss how it could be improved, prompting the couple to confront and realize their issues.

Woodall and Constantine then take the couples shopping to find fashionable and suitable clothing for them, which enhances their appearances, to give them more confidence and ultimately help and make stronger their relationship. On occasion, the fashion experts would take a member of the partnership in question to shops such as Ann Summers, in order to find accessories to liven up their sex lives. The participants are then given a full makeover by Richard Ward, complete with a new hair cut. Then their transformed appearances are revealed to each other at a select location.

[edit] Series One (2006)

Episode One: Ellie and Lester - Ellie and Lester were a challenging couple for stylists Trinny and Susannah to transform in their first episode. The couple had an age gap of nineteen years and Lester who was seven-inches shorter than Ellie, was struggling to keep their marriage together. Whilst Ellie, thirty-four, goes out to work every day, fifty-three-year-old Lester stays at home to look after their two autistic sons. Whilst Ellie had been dressing in un-expensive, baggy suits, Lester appeared to pride himself on a dated collection of casual trousers. It soon became apparent that Ellie and Lester's relationship was in crisis when she confessed to previously having an affair.[2] Following Ellies' revelation, the couple was taken out shopping to find some fashionable attire. Woodall dressed Ellie out in a black dress, meanwhile, Constantine found some suitable attire for Lester. A few hours later, after a full make-over and, the pair were transformed and reunited, now looking more like a happy and united couple, helping to bridge the age gap.[3]

Episode Two: Brian and Froso - Woodall and Constantine found Brian and Froso in a troubled marriage in this episode. They soon learnt that Brian and Froso's marriage almost fell apart eighteen months ago. Froso was diagnosed with breast cancer on Christmas Eve that same year, and both saw a traumatic time ahead, but were united as a couple throughout her treatment and subsequent mastectomy. Froso was undergoing her recovery and coming to terms with her breast prosthesis, but the couple were experiencing a hard relationship and failed to remember when they last went out. Unable to share the truth of her body with Brian, Froso fought hard to confront her insecurities with the help of Woodall and Constantine and their silhouette screen. After that, their relationship became stronger and were both given a new look. Woodall and Constantine take them to a secretly organised service where family and friends were assembled to witness them renewing their vows.[4]

Episode Three: Jim and Diane - Jim and Diane have been together for twenty-three years, and according to them, there hasn’t been much time for both looking and feeling good together. Diane was a size six stripper whom caught Jim’s eye. Diane, now a size sixteen is a self-conscious woman who hides her figure in tracksuits. Woodall and Constantine quickly find that the sparkle that has been lost inside this relationship could be recovered. Diane and Jim are given a totally new and fresh look and are reunited. Diane and Jim were also treated to some pampering from hair dresser Richard Ward.[5]

Episode Four: Chris and Tracey - Tracey and Chris have been married just over a year and were very much in love. But even though they were very happy together, they felt under pressure from others around them, because Tracey was forty-two and her husband Chris was just twenty-four. With an eighteen year age gap, Chris was often mistaken for Tracey's son. Woodall and Constantine could see that both their wardrobes needed to be revamping and modernising which would help the couple bridge their age gap. Tracey and Chris hoped that by dressing differently they might begin to look more like a couple and be more accepted together. Constantine helped Tracey to overcome her body insecurities by investing in some good items that would emphasize her good figure. She began to feel like a real lady. The pair were given a new look and were once again reunited and felt more confident as a couple.[6]

Episode Five: Bianca and Andy - Bianca was very much looking forward to the time when Andy returned from an eighteen year stint serving with the RAF. The thirty-four-year-old couple would be reunited to help bring up their growing family. But events didn’t run as expected. With three boys under ten, and a fourth child on the way, Bianca felt over-worked and un-appreciated by her partner. Meanwhile Andy didn't adjust easily to spending so much time at home and felt there was no communication in the partnership. Andy made an effort to dress up for college, but at home Bianca only sees him in old jeans with socks and sandals. Woodall and Constantine questioned whether a new wardrobe could help the couple’s marriage. Woodall helped her to embrace her growing pregnancy bump with carefully fitted dresses and tops. With the help of Richard Ward the couple were transformed and given a fresh look and made to feel more happy and comfortable together.[7]

Episode Six: Mark and Jo - When Woodall and Constantine met Mark and Jo Whatley, they saw a couple who could be father and daughter. Jo had already undergone an extreme transformation, dropping five dress sizes through hard exercise. She felt ready to take pride in her appearance, but she needed Mark's support. Her husband had no ambition and didn’t think his appearance at all important, only wearing football tops. Jo wanted to revamp her wardrobe but didn’t really have any knowledge about what clothing was suitable, and so bought her clothes from magazines and only ventured to wear black. After Constantine and Woodall had taken them shopping for new clothing, Mark was a different man when dressed in earthy tones which gave him some colour. Jo, saw her complexion brightened by the substitution of black to shades of copper, blue and red.[8]
