[edit] History
Triam Udom Suksa School is located on 129,600 square metres on Phyathai Rd., Patumwan District, Bangkok, bordering Chulalongkorn University. It was formerly named Preparatory School of Chulalongkorn University (Triam Udom Suksa literally means preparatory school), and the students would be educated to study in the faculties of the University.
On 3 January 1937, The University Council approved to found Triam Udom Suksa School and had appointed HE Mom Luang Pin Malakul as the first director. The school was officially opened on 16 May 1938 and classes began on 19 May 1938.
In 1947, affiliation was transferred to Thailand's Department of General Education. The students have since been required to take entrance examinations to Chulalongkorn University as regular students, and the name of the school was shortened to "Triam Udom Suksa School".
Nowadays, Triam Udom Suksa School educates upper secondary students (grades 10–12). In 2005, there are 110 classrooms with 4,850 students — 3,200 girls and 1,650 boys — and 210 teachers in total. Triam Udom Suksa School has 10 buildings, with each building having not only classrooms, but in addition special rooms and laboratories such as multiple language lab, experimental lab, library, Thai instrumental room, IT lab, etc. Also, there are other specific buildings which contribute to education and learning in the school such as Science experiment building, central library and activity building.
