TriWest Healthcare Alliance is a Phoenix, Arizona based insurance corporation with a single line of business administering the United States Department of Defense (DoD) TRICARE program in the 21-state TRICARE West Region.

TriWest was formed in 1995 by several Blue Cross-Blue Shield franchises in the central United States which wished to compete for a U.S. Government contract to administer the TRICARE program. The bid was successful, and TriWest was awarded the contract for the TRICARE Central Region in 1996.

During the TRICARE reorganization in 2003, TriWest was awarded a contract to administer TRICARE in the new TRICARE West Region. This contract expanded TriWest's coverage to 21 states and nearly three million beneficiaries.

The TRICARE West Region coverage area includes the states of:

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, (Limited Coverage Area) Utah, Washington, Wyoming
